Events for the graduating class of 2024

Grad, Grad Fest, Prom -  What's the difference? 

Grad

This is cap and gown ceremonies that are orginized by the school.

This may include the parade or other activities.

Grad fees are paid to the school to cover some of the expenses for gown and equipment rental.

Grad Fest

A celebration PARTY that is organized by a committee of parent volunteers. 

These volunteers fundraise and organize entertainment, activities, food, and prizes. 

This party is to provide students a safe place to celebrate.

Prom

A celebration dinner and dance organized by the graduating students. 

All planning and fundraising is done by the students with the support of a Prom Liason (parent volunteer).

Student pay for tickets ($60-$85 each) to cover expenses.

NPRGFS support prom with supplies, sharing some expenses, providing banking and society status.

1) Will Prom and Grad Fest be two separate events?

Ans:  Yes.  Prom will be held June 14, 2024 and Grad and Grad Fest will be on June 21, 2024.


2) Will the event allow everyone to attend together or be in smaller groups (time slots)?

Ans:  A full capacity event is being planned, where all Grads will be able to attend together, at the same time. 


3) Will Grads be able to bring a guest who is not graduating this year, (and who may not be from Fort St. John)?

Ans:  Yes.  Each grad is allowed to bring one guest.


4) Will the Event be Formal or Casual?

Ans: Casual. Gradfest is an event which includes games, food, and prizes.  There will be a secure coat check that will accommodate any prizes you may win throughout the night!)


5) Donated Formal Wear (or rentals)?

Ans:  Please contact your school’s Student Services to either donate or acquire formal wear (for Prom).


6) Alcohol?

Ans: No alcohol or recreational drugs will be permitted at the event.  Anyone with these substances will be removed from the event.  Parents WILL, and  Police MAY, be notified.  All persons will be escorted from the premises.


7) How will the event work?

Ans:  The event schedule:  Grad Fest 10:00 pm – 4:00 am. 

This will include games, snacks, drinks and prizes throughout the night.

Ans: Enchanted Forest


9) Can people leave and get back in at the event?

Ans:  No.  Once a Grad leaves the event, they will not be allowed back into the event.


9) Food and Drinks?

Ans:  Food and drinks are very important!  Many options will be made available throughout the night. It will all be free of charge.


10) Photo Booths?

Ans:  Many photography opportunities are being planned for the event.


11) Activities?

Ans:  Several activities have been suggested by current and former grad students. These and others are being considered by the committee.
